With their selection of services substantially expanding since 1963 to meet the increasing demand for an ‘all-in-one’ quality construction solution, Robinson Construction Group sought an identity for an umbrella brand to emphasise the benefits of their collaborative and tailored approach. The brief demanded new visuals that would also sit alongside and complement the individual companies within the group. A suite of logo formats is derived from the flexible, modular structure and the boldly coloured brand mark not only draws from the existing brands within the group, but strengthens the idea of “building together” for the benefit of comprehensive projects. The clean lines and angular nature of the brand mark speaks to the precision and skill the Group brings to the construction space. On a personal note, I really enjoyed working with such a well-respected and established company that drives and truly values the brand culture within their team. 🌟

Don’t get me wrong, long weekends are great and I absolutely love getting two of them in a row here in Marlborough. The idea of a short working week isn’t half bad either, but the reality can be something else entirely when you’re trying to squeeze 5 days of work into 4 😅 I’ve seen the advent calendars appearing everywhere, the ragey road users in the rain, and the to do list is on a whole new level. Everything just seems to get turned up a notch on the frantic-meter as we zoom towards the holidays. So take a deep breath. You don’t need to race. You did good. You did enough.

Taste of the Regions is a cookbook compiled by a group of five year 12 students at Marlborough Girls’ College as part of the 2024 Young Enterprise Scheme. The softcover book presents a curated collection of local recipes sourced from 20 of the Top of the South’s finest producers, along with a bit about the amazing local businesses behind the featured products. The girls @tasteoftheregionscookbook are also donating 10% of their profit from each book sale to @thefoodbankprojectnz - a charity that donates food and much needed grocery items to the Salvation Army’s Food Banks all across New Zealand. Is it just me or are the spammers and the scammers getting sneakier? 😵‍💫 We’ve had several emails from people we’re working with lately asking our opinion on whether random emails they’ve received are genuine or not. Most of them are easy to spot, but it can be really hard to tell in some cases. Many of them email you as if you’ve already engaged their services, or that you’re mid-conversation and proceed to accuse you of ghosting them. We’re all busy, so it’s plausible that you dropped the ball somewhere right? My take on it: If in doubt - ignore, block or delete. But here are some other tips to weed them out. 1. If it’s a supplier or sender you’ve used or work with, don’t click on any links IN the email to access your account. Instead visit the website directly via your browser and login there. If you have upcoming or overdue payments you should find them there. 2. Look for poor grammar and spelling mistakes. It’s not a foolproof method but can be an extra red flag. 3. Be suspicious of emails that request urgent action, contain threats, or create fear. 4. Check the email address it’s sent from - does their email match up to who they say they are? 5. Avoid opening or downloading attachments unless you’re confident the email is safe. We hope you find this helpful. Stay safe out there!

We worked with Donna and Hamish back in 2020 to update their brand identity so jumped at the chance to work with them again when they needed a fresh new website to better showcase their completed projects to prospective clients. Professional high-quality photography, intentional white space and clean concise copy ensures their online presence is consistent with their visual identity and strengthens their brand recognition. Nothing says “I did the damn thing!” more than a shiny medal around your neck!! 🥇 But we needed something extra special for @boutiquefit_pt_studio - not your regular party-favour-dollar-store kind of medals that we use for family card nights 🫣🤣, so with the help of our talented friends at @pegcreative and @pinc.nz we put together this winning combo for Coach Kim and the B-Fit members 👌🏻 A little extra motivation to achieve in the shiniest form ✨

A new look logo for Elly-K Beauty in conjunction with a stationery haul of price lists, gift vouchers and appointment cards - the new designs bring in details from the beautiful artwork and wall colours in her private salon for aesthetic continuity between her printed material and physical space.

It’s a bit like waltzing in to a restaurant and requesting all of their recipes so you can go home and create the dishes yourself. Then expecting the chef of the restaurant to stay on the phone with you and talk you through the entire recipe method - all it means is one less booking for the restaurant and delays on the dishes for the paying customers, it does not mean you’re now a Michelin chef. I feel like we could create an analogy for most industries in this scenario, but it’s really just a matter of knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and truly valuing your own time, as well as that of others.

The Marine Shield website was in need of an update, so we’ve been working with Parky, Kim and Nina to bring it up to speed. Their flexible UV paint coating system is specifically designed for the marine industry, primarily for yacht sails and inflatable boats but the uses and benefits of these products are widespread. Tough, flexible, and packed with UV inhibitors, absorbers and light scatterers the system meets the essential balance of robustness and flexibility, and the benefits of Marine Shield products have been recognised by some of the largest companies in the marine industry. It’s a really cool thing to help and work with industry leaders that are based right here in our own backyard, and enable them to do what they do even better!

If it’s something we’re working on for you, we think you should expect no less! In a state of creative flow we steer clear of distractions to focus on the task at hand, and deliver our best work. 02 / You can’t send attachments in a phone call Design is visual. You’re likely going to have to send us some information or images, so rather than prefacing your email with a call, we recommend skipping straight to our inbox. This way you can guarantee we’ll come back to you with considered, helpful answers rather than more questions. 03 / Emails are efficient and fast track YOUR project You may think it’s “easier” to just give us a call, but it translates to us essentially writing your email by taking notes, and then emailing them to you to make sure we haven’t missed anything. Honestly, we probably could have completed the work in that time. By having details in writing we have something to refer back to when we aren’t on the phone, and can get on with the work right away. 04 / You can send one whenever you like While we don’t reply to emails in the weekends or evenings, don’t let that stop you sending us one at 2am. That’s the best part! You can send them WHENEVER it suits you, knowing we’ll reply as soon as it suits us. You won’t even have to wait that long! I mean, you can try calling at 2am but my ‘do not disturb’ will be on and I’ll probably block your number as a result. 05 / Emails are prepared and ready to jump the queue Our week is generally mapped out in advance, and we’re never just sitting around waiting for a phone call, but if a gap in our schedule opens up and your email request is sitting there waiting, you can bet we’ll jump straight on it! Still don’t love emails as much as us? That’s ok. It’s not like we refuse to talk on the phone. This is your intro to the newest business to hit Boomtown. Grant (more commonly known as Spud) is your Blenheim-based go-to-guy for all things louvre related. He's got your custom louvres, your automated louvres, your Louvre shutters, and (as the name suggests) more! The more being outdoor blinds, outdoor heaters and LED lighting, fencing, decks and general landscaping jobs. We've set Spud up with a logo, business cards and some signage for his truck. If this Summer was an indicator that you need to level up your outdoor living space then we suggest you give him a call!

We've been working with @marlboroughsoundsmarinas for many years now and recently put together a new design lockup for their campaign promoting the new berths available in the Waikawa North West marina extension. It was important for the design to capture the variety of fun the marina is the gateway to, while appealing to both the adventurers and the explorers.

Kat still loves the visual identity we created for her business way back in 2019 BC, but it’s done a lot of growing since then, and while growth doesn’t necessarily mean getting bigger and going global, her business has evolved, become more sophisticated and the services have been refined. The identity needed a refresh to reflect this, to better attract her astute demographic. Website copy, SEO, press releases and blogs are a collection of tasks that sound daunting and conjure up visions of late nights overthinking and spellchecking - but this stuff comes EASY to @copykatcommunications , she is a true wizard with words and creates the most masterful copy from next to nothing. After five years of having an office in town, we’ve moved back to working remotely in 2024 and are absolutely loving the change and the extra time it’s delivering to our day! Aaron and I are also working from home and enjoying the non-existent drive to work, the four-legged companions, and the flexibility to work around our renovations and school holidays. We’re fiercely protective of the concept of working from home, rather than living at work, so we won’t be inviting clients into our homes, but still offer plenty of options if we need to catch up - we can come to you if you’re local, grab a coffee at a cafe, book out a meeting room in town, connect over a zoom call, chat over the phone, or just stick to the beauty of email communication. If you have a print order with us, we can have your order couriered directly to you, you can pick up direct from our printing partners if thats more convenient, and I’ll still be out doing local deliveries regularly too. We’ve been working with Pounamu Tourism Group for many years - from full glossy magazines, digital brochures and postcards, to lanyard cards, logos and websites. Last year they decided it was time to give their umbrella brand a face lift, updating their logo to something more contemporary, font-based, and a fresh signature colour to top it off! While the new colour choice is an obvious nod to Pounamu, the dual lines in the name suggest travel and movement in a more subtle and understated way, making the overall look more grown up and polished.

This logo for @ariabeautynz was created way back in 2015 and we have been working with Sarah ever since, making little adjustments over the course of 9 years as her business has changed and grown to make sure her visuals align with her brand. This larger than life acrylic application by @imaginesigns_blenheim at their new salon is a stand out and has real impact in the large white corridor in the mall making sure all existing and new customers know exactly where to find them ✨

Amy reached out to us a couple of months ago asking to help make her business logo more professional and unique. The colour palette was still working well but needed to be expanded for more versatility and extra personality. As the only acro specialist studio in Christchurch and one of the few certified studios, Amy’s classes, workshops and private lessons are extremely popular both for recreational and competitive dancers and gymnasts so we tried to keep a few elements of the original logo while creating something completely fresh and new with a fun foundation for social media marketing, her website and signage moving forward.

After completing a Kāwai Raupapa; Certificate in Māori and Indigenous Art last year, Sarah was inspired to pursue a path as a toi artist creating unique and natural New Zealand artwork. Her business, Hera Creative, specialises in producing bespoke pieces of raranga/weaving; mainly taumata (wall hangings) and kete, and is already proving popular with customers since the launch of her new Shopify site. Based in Hamilton, the McFarlanes import specialised Antonio Cararro tractors and vineyard attachments. The established family business is built on a solid foundation of knowledge, experience and integrity, passed down through generations who still work alongside each other, and this visual identity for the umbrella brand will sit alongside both existing and future McFarlane business ventures. The brand mark is formed by parallel lines repeated and mirrored, to create an ‘M’ and ‘F’, referencing the family name. These lines represent past and present generations working alongside each other and are a subtle visual nod to tyre tracks and vineyard / orchard rows. A crest-like shape speaks to the generational aspect of business being passed down, giving a heritage-feel but in a dynamic, modern way with bold angled lines. A strong sans serif typeface was selected and customised for the word mark to create a visual connection to the brand mark.

But Sharlene was a wealth of knowledge and a devoted advocate for the health benefits it offers. O2Go Clinic is a new business venture in Hamilton looking to open clinics throughout New Zealand. Their goal is to support a holistic approach to improving your health, vitality and/or injury recovery. Oxygen therapy provides a multitude of health benefits and with clinics around the country, the cost of the therapy would be more readily accessible and affordable. I find a good ‘before and after’ so satisfying! It’s an opportunity to acknowledge growth, change, and the journey from past to present. It’s a chance to explore and hold onto what is still serving you, and to turf anything that no longer aligns. The transformation of the Marlborough Kindergarten Association website was an epic case study of this process and as a result the new website better represents who they are today visually telling the story of friendships, learning through play, caring teachers, and the natural environment. >> swipe for before shot The previous website was jam-packed with an overwhelming amount of information and surprisingly so is the new website with the fundamental difference being the design - making it easier for the viewer to digest and navigate the site without the overwhelm, using a mix of images and text to communicate important details and answer the questions of visitors to the site.
